With less than 48 hours left until the official launch event, and a press shot of the U.S. bound Samsung Galaxy S II droids already out, today, we have the press shots of Sprint Wireless's version of the trio for you.
The device's most likely name will be Samsung Epic Touch - quite a logical choice, given the fact that the Galaxy S version for Sprint is the sliding QWERTY packed, Samsung Epic. This fact of course, dismisses the previous speculation that the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II will carry the nameSamsung Within.
From the trio of Galaxy S II droids in the United States, the Epic Touch is probably the most conservatively styled one. It is also the only device from the bunch, whose front is not branded with an operator logo (usually a subject of heavy negotiations between carriers and manufacturers).
We will have the full scoop on the Epic Touch and the rest of the trio on Tuesday, when we attend the Samsung event in New York City, so stay tuned.
Although way off the original schedule, it seems the Gingerbread update to the LG Optimus One has finally started rolling out. We are hearing reports from numerous countries that the Optimus One is now being updated to Android 2.3.3. The update needs to be downloaded through LG’s desktop client though, as that’s just how LG rolls.
We are also hearing that the other recently launched LG phones, such as the Optimus 2x and Optimus 3D will be getting the Gingerbread update soon. So be sure to keep checking and let us know how it goes.
This is hardly a surprise, given the fact that it was confirmed a couple of days ago, but today it is official. Samsung just announced LTE versions of its popular Galaxy S II droid and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 slate. Both devices feature updated 1.5GHz dual-core processors along with the ultra fast network connectivity.
In addition to the faster CPU and the LTE connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S II has received a larger, 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus screen with WVGA resolution. The droid's design has also been slightly altered. As you will see in the press shots below, the device's home screen button shape has changed. Its back has dropped the familiar textured plastic for a metal finish instead. The LTE Galaxy S II is indeed the Celox, whose leak we reported to you a couple of weeks back.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 on the other hand has not changed dramatically, compared to the slate which we already know quite well, save for the updated CPU and the LTE capability.
More information on the devices is expected next week, when IFA begins in Berlin. In the meantime, hit the source link for the full press, and tell us how you like the new devices in the comments section below.
The HTC Vigor that was previously leaked through benchmark scores has surfaced again and this time through a decent pair of pictures, showing the entire front and rear side.
From the looks of it the phone does look a bit similar to the HTC Incredible S, particularly from the back. Then again, all HTC phones look similar these days. On the front is a large touchscreen rumored to be 4.3-inch in size and having a resolution of 1280 x 720, if the benchmark results that leaked last time are to be believed. There is also a front video call camera on the top right and on the top left is what looks like could be the Verizon logo, being edited out. The touch sensitive buttons below the display don’t seem like they rotate the way they do on the Incredible S.
On the back see the camera lens of what could most likely be an 8 megapixel sensor with dual LED flash, surrounded by the tell-tale Verizon red ring. You can see the Vigor name clearly written on the sticker below but as with the first image it seems the DROID name has been edited out again. You can see the loudspeaker slot below along with a sign that says that the phone will have the HTC Sense UI.
On the hardware front the Vigor is expected to have a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 220 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory and running on Android 2.3.4. It is also said to have the Beats Audio, the result of the recent alliance between HTC and the Beats by Dre brand.
All the signs suggest this is another one of the phones from Verizon’s DROID family but there could also be a GSM version, the Incredible HD, if you will. This is all we know for now though. More as it is discovered.
Nearly everyone at the time was aware of the arduous birth of the white iPhone 4 but making such top products whiter than white is anything but exclusive to the likes of Apple. Other top-end smartphones which have more recently been able to parade around in a white lick of paint include the Android powered Samsung Galaxy S II and the LG Optimus White (aka, the Optimus Black).
It now appears to be the LG Optimus 3D's turn to don the white however, as shots have cropped up from the back rooms of UK mobile retailer Phones 4u alongside its darker, more traditional twin.
Both white and black Optimus 3D models are available right now from the Phone 4u website, however the white is only available on Orange, O2 and Vodafone, whereas the classic black 3D is also available on T-Mobile as well. This might change down the line but as it stands, there's no sign of the white stuff heading for the magenta 'T'.
The cheapest plan comes courtesy of Vodafone with a 2 year contract at £20.50 a month, excluding the £79 for the handset itself which isn't too bad for that phone's 3D goodness.
Incase you hadn't heard, the LG Optimus 3D is a 4.3" Android smartphone running Froyo 2.2 (upgradeable to Gingerbread 2.3 down the line). The display is a 3D touch screen that uses parallax barrier technology to offer glasses-free 3D to the masses. Specs also include a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor and to make the most of that unusual display, there's a set of dual 5MP cameras for taking 3D stills and film (at 3MP and only in 720p for 3D modes).
We have some good and some bad news for Sony Ericsson fans. Unfortunately, both the news are pretty much rumors at this point so take them with a pinch of salt.
First the bad news. The Sony Ericsson SK19i, which was supposed to be a variant of the Xperia ray with a slide-out QWERTY keypad, has apparently been cancelled. The phone was being developed for the AT&T network in the US and was to be slotted between the Xperia mini pro and the Xperia pro.
Now for the good news. There is apparently a new flagship device cooking inside Sony Ericsson’s kitchens called the Nozomi (LT26i/LT26a). This device will supposedly have a 4.3-inch 720p display and will be powered by a 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8655T processor with Adreno 205 GPU.
The display specifications sound superb but we are not quite sure if the underlying hardware will be able to run it properly. Then again, it is just a rumor at this point so it would be silly to jump to conclusions. Unfortunately, there is no information as to when this handset might be officially launched.
We have to admit that the HTC Holiday looks in a much better shape in its pictures today, than the last time we spotted it. There are also a couple of screenshots to confirm the specs of the device.
As far as the above mentioned are concerned, there is nothing which we don't know since the last time. One of the first LTE droids for AT&T will pack a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 4.5" screen with qHD resolution and LTE support. An 8MP camera with an LED flash will be in charge of taking photos and videos, while a 1.3MP front unit will assist you in your video calls.
The HTC Holiday will be running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with Sense 3.0 UI, promising a worthy amount of eye candy for the large screen. You can see a few screenshots from the device below.
All in all, it appears that the HTC Holiday has the EVO 3D internals, the HTC Sensation camera unit, and a bigger screen than its slightly older siblings.
The device is expected to be one of the first devices to launch on AT&T's brand new LTE network this Fall. Word has it, that the retail name of the device might be HTC Waikiki, instead of Holiday. Feel free to tell us how would you like this name for the upcoming HTC flagship in the comments section below.
Sony Ericsson has unveiled the Xperia Neo V ahead of IFA 2011, following its moderately successful Xperia Neo handset that was released early this year.
There's not much to report on the Neo V front; it's largely the same handset as the original Neo - same dimensions, same weight, same display, same innards.
The one major change that we can see is that the Neo V comes rocking a 5MP camera, a step down from the 8MP affair that the older handset boasts.
Considering the "photographic punch" was one of the things we praised in our Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo review, chopping this down may not have been Sony Ericsson's wisest ever move.
Downgrade
It will be the first Xperia handset to ship with Android 2.3.4, the 3D-friendly software update that Sony Ericsson also announced today with a few Facebook updates and the ability to take screenshots.
Like its predecessor, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V comes with a front-facing camera, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch screen and HDMI support.
Unlike its predecessor, you'll be able to pick up the Neo V in a white chassis. Wow. Times they are a changin'.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V UK release date is scheduled for some time in Q4 (Oct-Dec), with pricing expected to be slightly lower than that of the original Neo, so around the £20 per month mark.
It's not abundantly clear why Sony Ericsson has bothered releasing a very slightly cut down edition of the perfectly adequate Xperia Neo; we've asked the company what the deal is, we'll let you know if and when we hear back.
Update: Sony Ericsson explains, "The Xperia neo V will be coming in below the Xperia neo and the Xperia ray, but above the Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro, so from a price point, it will be more accessible for consumers."
We have been speculating about what will Samsung reveal next week in Berlin for quite some time now. Thanks to the Korean company's own Unpacked Android app, we can now tell you which devices will be announced at IFA, exactly a week from today.
As you can see from the picture above, the trio of gadgets includes Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Note, and the Bada OS running Wave 3.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 will most likely be running Android's latest Honeycomb 3.2, which was updated to support smaller screens as well. The Wave 3 on the other hand, will be packing the latest Bada OS. The Galaxy Note is definitely the big question mark here, since we don't know anything about it for the moment.
All 3 devices will be officially revealed next week in Berlin. In the meantime, feel free to tell us what do you expect from them in the comments section below.
The unveiling of the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy SII is just around the corner yet, somehow, an official press shot of the devices in question managed to make its way onto the world wide web. Today, we can show you with the utmost certainty the Samsung Galaxy SII U.S. trio of droids, which is poised to make a splash across the Atlantic.
As you can see from the picture, the power droid will be launched on Sprint Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile networks respectively. The largest networks in the U.S. - Verizon Wireless is missing from the picture.
The U.S. Galaxy SII differs from its rest of the world sibling by its lack of home button at the front. Instead, you get four touch sensitive buttons, a la Samsung Infuse 4G. The edges of the T-Mobile and Sprint versions are also rounder than the ones of the Galaxy S II which we know so well.
We will know more about the droids when we attend the launch event in New York City (by the way, it has been postponed by a day due to increment weather), so expect to get the full scoop on the three devices this coming Tuesday. In the meantime, tell us which one you like the most in the comments section below.
As we reported three days ago, HTC is hosting an event on September 1st (a day before the IFA kicks off in Berlin). HTC is supposed to announce the WP7 Mango-based Eternity and Omega on this event.
Today we have an official picture of HTC Omega. The smartphone looks like most other HTC handsets and has a white/silver paintjob.
HTC Eternity
HTC Omega is rumored to feature a 3.8-inch SLCD WVGA display, an 8 megapixel snapper with LED flash plus a 720p camcorder and should be based on Qualcomm's MSM8255 Snapdragon core with a 1.5GHz processor and 512MB RAM. As the rumors has it, the Omega might be just a codename and it's retail name may be HTC Radar.
September 1st is just around the corner when all the details about Omega and its high-end sibling Eternity will be cleared.
Samsung legal department has sent a Cease and Desist letter to a person claiming it is in possession of leaked Nexus Prime firmware. The Korean manufacturer wants it back, because it's obviously an exclusive Samsung property and not to be released to the public.
Yes, that's the confirmation you've been looking for - the third Google phone - Nexus Prime - will be once again made by Samsung. According to the rumors, it will sport 4.5" new generation Super AMOLED screen and might be based on Samsung's Exynos SoC with a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
Google Nexus Prime is supposedly the first droid running on Ice Cream Sandwich and as the rumor has it, it might get an October release. We expect even more leaks as we get closer to the official announcement.
Are you as excited about the release of the new iPhone 5 as I am? Probably not, because I'm the one writing this hub and you're the one reading it (hopefully). I hate to admit it but somehow I've managed to become one of those Apple fangirls that you see walk into the Apple store and spend 30 minutes asking the employees all sorts of uber geek questions.
For one reason or another I've taken it upon myself to find out as much as possible about the new iPhone 5 so that I could spread this knowledge. What do I get out of it? The benefit of knowing I'm helping rid the world of lesser non-Apple phones (*cough HTC Evo cough*).
As if the iPhone 4 wasn't groundbreaking enough, the iPhone 5 is going to revolutionize the world of cell phones. Here's why:
One of the biggest benefits of owning a new iPhone 5 is that it'll come with dual core processors that will make it load at super fast speeds. Not only that, but it will be incorporating even more powerful graphics chip cards, which will provide you with better video and still images. As if the 20 gigawatt gazillion megapixel already in the iPhone 4 wasn't enough...
Right now it looks like the new iPhone 5 will be running on a 4G network (instead of the usual 3G). That means that some of the most likely network carriers to get a plan under are Sprint, T-Mobile, and maybe AT&T and Verizon. But we've all heard a lot of complaints about AT&T's network in the past, so I'm not sure how many people would opt to go with them for the new iPhone.
In fact, one of the reasons behind the increase in Jailbreaks of the iPhone 4 was that AT&T's network had way too many problems with it. Rather than deal with AT&T a lot of people ended up jailbreaking their phones instead, a fair deal considering you can get free ringtones, themes, and apps when you jailbreak your phone.
Also, anyone who says Android based cell phones are going to be able to compete with the new iPhone 5 are completely delirious. They won't even come close to the capabilities offered by the new iPhone when it comes out.
If you're thinking about buying the iPhone 4, you'll be better off waiting for the iPhone 5 instead, as it should be coming out really soon this year. Here are some of the expected features:
The new iPhone 5 is expected to have Face Recognition Security so that you don't have to worry about other people stealing your phone and trying to use it... That is, unless they steal your face too. (Anyone seen Face Off?)
Video Chat on a 4G network instead of a slow 3G one
Much nicer overall body design of the phone. It's going to be even thinner and have a shiny black piece.
Shatter Resistant and Scratch Resistant Screen
The lowest model will come with 32G of space and 64G of memory. I'll be able to store my whole computer on the lowest model of the iPhone 5. Yippeee for me.
Longer Battery Life - Up to 14 Hours of Talk Time On The 3G and 7 Hours on the 4G. With 14 hours of talking to my girlfriends, I'm only going to have 10 hours to sleep =(
HD Audio - The quality of sound is going to be extra crisp.
Built In GPS - You'll never get lost or have to download one of those stupid GPS apps.
How much will the new iPhone 5 cost? I can't speculate on that, but I'm going to assume it'll run you over $500. It's definitely going to be worth it though, and I can't wait for it to come out.

Launch of some powerful new smartphones. But in many parts of the world, phones like those remain science fiction. In large parts of Africa and Asia, in particular, many face the reality of expensive data rates, the uncertainty of being able to connect to a reliable power source and low incomes. For the ‘next billion’ mobile users, a reliable, inexpensive, regular phone is a lot more relevant. That’s the reason we’re launching the Nokia 101 and Nokia 100 today.
The Nokia 101 and 100 are low-cost phones based on the Series 30 operating system. The difference between the two is that the Nokia 101 supports dual-SIM and has an MP3 player. Designed with the fact in mind that these phones are often shared between families, they can support up to five separate address books and store personalisation details for up to five different SIM cards.
The display has a grid-based system of icons – we also need the phones to be usable by people who haven’t had the opportunity to learn to read. There’s an integrated flashlight – a handy addition for most of us, but extremely valuable if you live somewhere where’s there’s only power for a few hours a day. For the same reason, the battery life is extremely good compared to what you might have learned to expect from using a smartphone. These phones can last up to 25 days on standby, or 6.7 hours talktime.
But that doesn’t mean they aren’t versatile or useful. They come with an FM radio and – on the Nokia 101 – an MP3 player with a headset included in the box. There’s also support for memory cards up to 16GB on the Nokia 101, allowing thousands of songs to be stored. In addition, there are preloaded games and a 3.5mm AV connector so owners can connect the device to better speakers, for example.
In selected markets, these phones will also be offered with Nokia Life Tools, allowing the delivery of market information, weather forecasts, health advice, language tuition and entertainment news to an on-board app using specially created SMS messages.
The Nokia 101 and 100 go on sale from this quarter (Nokia 101) and next (Nokia 100) in selected markets. Without local taxes or operator subsidies they’ll cost around €25 for the Nokia 101 and about €20 for the Nokia 100.
The current Rumor Land resident - the HTC Bliss has come out of the closet for a couple of new snapshots in the wild. This is the first time we get to see the device sporting a blur-free real-life look following the previous leak but we can only see the hardware exterior and none of that Sense 3.5 UI we're so hoping to check out.
The Bliss was previously only seen on blurry spy shots and on a mock up but we do have an idea what punch it will pack under its hood. It will have a single Qualcomm MSM7x30 800MHz processor with the Adreno 205 GPU and Android Gingerbread 2.3. The display was of unknown resolution and size but judging by the side-to-side picture with the Desire S we can safely assume it has the same 3.7-incher at the front. The resolution might be HVGA or WVGA.
As for the HTC Sense UI 3.5 we're itching to find out more. We could get a taste of it soon when one of HTC's events kicks in on September 1st in London.
The HTC Bliss is rumored to be a female-oriented device although it doesn't show by the pictures above. The previous leak showed it in cyan flavor so we could see it in different skins.

Nokia Series 40 just got smarter, folks. The latest additions to the feature phone portfolio of the Finnish giant are bound to narrow the gap between smart and dumb phones. With a set of new features which were previously reserved for the segment of the premium phones, and a low price tag, the C2 trio of phones which starts with the dual-SIM, Touch and Type Nokia C2-03 is bound to make a serious splash in its target markets.
Now on with the specs. Nokia's creation has taken the dual-SIM functionality to a whole new level with the Easy Swap feature. It allows the user to quickly change SIM cards through a slot on the side of the phone with no need for a reboot. The phone can remember the settings of up to five different SIM cards.
Like we mentioned before, there is also a touch screen and a sliding numeric keyboard available on the device. The touch screen has 240x320 resolution and supports up to 65K colors.
There is a 2 megapixel camera on the back of the phone and 10MB of built in memory, which can be expanded to 32GB via microSD cards. The standby time of the phone is quoted at 400 hours, while the talk time is 5 hours. There is a radio and a music player on board too.
And now the major novelties to Series 40. The Nokia C2-03 has a brand new version of Nokia Maps preloaded. It allows users to search for locations while offline as well, saving them possible data charges from their operator. The latest Nokia Browser for Series 40 is also part of the phone's software. It compresses the data and provides a faster and more cost-efficient web browsing experience.
All this premium-ish functionality is tucked into a nicely looking, 118g package which costs a very affordable €77 before any taxes and subsidies. While the features may not sound like much, it is important to note that Nokia will target mainly the developing markets with the C2-03, where having an unlimited data plan and a smartphone to use it on is an expensive pleasure. Having a Nokia C2-03 will enable people to get a taste of premium phone services without the high price tag.
The Nokia C2-03 will have two additional flavors. For those who don't need the dual-SIM functionality, there will be the previously leaked Nokia C2-02. The phone looks the exact same but supports only one SIM card.
Nokia 888 is a concept mobile phone , with a bracelet-like design that has never been endorsed by Nokia. This mobile phone concept has been designed by the industrial designer Tamer Nakisci and won the Benelux design contest in 2005. Three years have passed since the award and still no mobile phone company has put it in practice.
The phone has an amazing design , you can fold it in many ways according to your needs. You can wear it as a bracelet , roll it , bend it and wear it as a clip on your clothes. It is amazing how fun this mobile can be.
Nokia 888 Concept is mostly targeted to teenagers that are very active and take place in a lot of different activities.
